Open Day

In 1995, the Cancer Research Institute (CRI) then located in the Tata Memorial Centre's Parel, Mumbai campus, first organized an 'Open Day' to showcase its research programs to undergraduate and graduate students from science colleges of Mumbai. This tradition has continued at the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, since 2002 when CRI relocated to the ACTREC campus.

ACTREC's Open Day 2015 was conducted on the 3rd and 4th of December 2015. In four half day sessions, a total of almost 480 students and 40 faculty members from science, medical, and allied colleges/ institutions from Mumbai and Navi Mumbai visited the Centre to participate in this much awaited event. Batches of twelve students and one faculty member from 10 colleges visited ACTREC during the morning/ afternoon session each day. The program included a poster display, introductory talk about ACTREC, and visits to ten demonstrating labs where the use of various high end technologies used in cancer research, diagnosis and treatment were highlighted. The visiting students enthusiastically trooped across the campus visiting the demonstrating labs, and put forth their queries to the demonstrators who included Ph.D. research scholars, scientists, registrars and clinicians. Positive feedback was obtained from all the colleges for this year's Open Day
