Usha Vijayraghavan
Usha Vijayraghavan obtained her Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology. Her research interest was in plant genetics; she worked on genes that regulate flowering and plant morphology. Her group uses molecular genetics and functional genomics to understand various aspects of how gene activity is regulated in yeasts and plants. Dr. Vijayraghavan has been awarded several awards like DBT-Bioscience Award; J.C. Bose Fellowship; Sir C. V. Raman Award, and Rockefeller Foundation Biotechnology Career Fellowship.

Kasturi Datta
Kasturi Datta earned her Ph.D. from Kolkata University. Her research interest was in understanding the molecular basis of cell-matrix proteins in cell-cell interaction and signal transduction under environmental stimuli. Her group purified and identified a novel protein having a specific affinity towards hyaluronan. She characterized this protein confirming its multifunctionality, its role in cellular signaling, and apoptosis induction. Dr. Dutta is an elected member of the American Society of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Biology. She is a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Science, Bangalore; Academy of Sciences for the developing world (TWAS). She is the recipient of the Ranbaxy Award (1991); Senior Women Bioscientist Award of DBT (2001) and FICCI Award (2004).
