Anekal Ramaswamiengar Gopal Ayengar
Anekal Ramaswamiengar Gopal Ayengar obtained his PhD (1942) from the University of Toronto, Canada. His significant areas of research were in gene duplication and chromosome synthesis in biological systems, chromosome breakage by radiation and radiomimetic substances, properties of maliganant systems, genetical and biological investigations in high background radiation areas. He was visiting professor, Institute for Biophysik, University of Hannover. He was Director, Bio-Medical group, BARC, Mumbai. He was Member of International Society for Cell Biology, New York Academy of Sciences, American Association for Cancer Research and Genetical Society of Great Britain. He was Chairman of UN Scientific Committee on Effects of Atomic Radiation (1956-57). Dr. Ayengar was recipient of Homi Bhabha Prize (1948) and Padma Shri (1967).

Gobind Singh Thapar
Gobind Singh Thapar obtained his PhD (1925) from University of London, UK. His specific research areas were in Helminthology include discovery of new helminthes belonging to Trematodes, Cestodes, Nematodes and Acanthacephala in many animals. His other contributions include establishment of new classification of Acanthocephala, discovery of the parasites of hump-sore and Nazar granuloma of cattle. He was a Member of Royal Microscopic Society, London. He was recipient of the Bhalerao Memorial Gold Medal and Dr SN Sigh Memorial God Medal. He was elected Fellow, Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, Zoological Society of India, Helminthological Society of India and President, Indian Science Congress.
