Arun Kumar Sharma
Arun Kumar Sharma secured his PhD from the University of Kolkata in 1955. He made significant contribution in the areas of studies on the physical and chemical nature of chromosomes. He is credited with developing new research techniques for the study of chromosome structure of plants. He is the elected fellow of the Indian National Science Academy; Indian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences, India. He is the recipient of Om Prakash Bhasin award in 1992; the S S Bhatnagar award in 1976; Padma Bhushan award in 1983.

Ardhendu Sekhar Mukherjee
Ardhendu Sekhar Mukherjee obtained his PhD from the University of California in 1964. His significant contribution was in Drosophila genetics. He discovered the rapid method of scintillation autoradiography and worked on the role of hormones in development and carcinogenesis. Dr. Mukherjee was the Fellow, Royal Microscopical Society, London; Member, All India Cell Biology Society and Society for Cytology and Genetics.
