Pran Nath Mehra Pran Nath Mehra

Pran Nath Mehra obtained his DSc from the University of Panjab in 1942. He specialized in cytology, the morphology of bryophytes and vascular plants, medicinal plants, tissue culture and morphogenesis. He made extensive contributions to the phyletic evolution of grasses, the distribution of Prodocarpean flora, and the concept of Gondwanaland. Dr Mehra is the recipient of the Padmashri (1972); Birbal Sahni Gold Medal (1968), and Gunner Erdtman International Gold Medal (1975). He was a member of the INSA Council (1969-70). He was a fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad; Indian Botanical Society; Indian Palynological Society; Indian Society of Pharmacognosy.

Kariamanikkam Srinivasa Krishnan Kariamanikkam Srinivasa Krishnan

Kariamanikkam Srinivasa Krishnan obtained DSc from the University of Madras in 1920. His main research topic was the Experimental study of the scattering of light in a large number of liquids and its theoretical interpretations. He developed an elegant and precise experimental technique to measure the magnetic anisotropy of diamagnetic and paramagnetic crystals. He was the elected Fellow of the Royal Society (1940); Padma Bhushan (1954). He was the first recipient of the S S Bhatnagar Award(1958).

Proton therapy comes to public sector now
