Sivaraj Ramaseshan Sivaraj Ramaseshan

Sivaraj Ramaseshan obtained his DSc from Nagpur University in 1951. His primary research areas included X-ray crystallography, anomalous scattering of X-rays and neutrons, and high-pressure physics. He contributed significantly to materials science, fibre-reinforced composites, electro-composites and new fabrication methods. He was elected Vice President of the International Union of Crystallography. He was the recipient of the S S Bhatnagar Award (1966); VASVIK Award (1980); Aryabhatta Medal by INSA (1985), and Padma Bhushan Award (1985). He was the elected Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore.

Satish Chandra Maheshwari Satish Chandra Maheshwari

Satish Chandra Maheshwari received his PhD from the University of Delhi in 1958. He is known for his pioneering research in Plant Molecular Biology. He did extensive research on embryology, morphology and flowering in duckweeds. His significant contribution was the discovery of RNA polymerase activity in chloroplasts. He also developed a new high-speed culture technique for producing pure homozygous lines of haploid plants. He was the recipient of the S S Bhatnagar Award in 1972; J C Bose Gold Medal; Birbal Sahni Gold Medal. He was the elected Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences; Indian National Science Academy, and the National Academy of Sciences.
