Sasanka Chandra Bhattacharya
Sasanka Chandra Bhattacharyya obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Dacca in 1944. He developed synthetic approaches for prostaglandins and new analytical reagents. He also isolated and determined the structure of over a hundred complex natural products like terpenoids and coumarins. Dr. Bhattacharya was the recipient of the S S Bhatnagar Prize in 1962 and; the Dr. B C Roy National Award in 1978. He was a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, and the Indian Chemical Society.

T A Venkitasubramanian
Tathamangam A Venkitasubramanian secured his Ph.D. from the University of Madras in 1951. He was the Head of the Biochemistry department at Vallabhai Patel Chest Institute, New Delhi. He has done pioneering research on the biochemistry of tubercle bacilli and also on Aspergillus parasiticus, a type of mold that produces aflatoxin. His research helped to understand intermediary metabolism in cultured mycobacteria and experimental tuberculosis models. He was awarded Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in 1968.
