Guru Prakash Dutta
Guru Prakash Dutta obtained his doctorate from the Punjab University in 1961 and DSc degree in 1973. His major contribution was in experimental protozoology and immunology. He developed new techniques for the culture of unicellular eukaryotic organisms. His work on antimalarial drugs helped in the development of several fast-acting medicines. Dr. Dutta received the S S Bhatnagar Award in 1976. He is the Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy; the National Academy of Sciences, and the Indian Society for Parasitology.

Mithan Lal Roonwal
Mithan Lal Roonwal obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, the UK, in 1935. Dr. Roonwal studied a range of taxa, from termites to mammals. He carried out landmark research on the insect embryology, ecology, morphology, and taxonomy of locusts and termites; forest entomology; and animal behavior of primates. He has extensively investigated the systematics, ecology, and bionomics of mammals studies in connection with tsutsugamushi disease (scrub typhus) in Assam. Dr. Roonwal was Director, Zoological Survey of India and Vice-Chancellor, University of Jodhpur. He was an Honorary Member of the Soviet Academy of Sciences and Entomological Society of India.
