Kartar Singh Thind Kartar Singh Thind

Kartar Singh Thind obtained his PhD from the University of Wisconsin, USA, in 1948. He made pioneering contributions in the fields of mycology and plant pathology. He explored the new microflora of the Himalayas and new taxa of fungi. He was a member of the Mycological Society of America, British Mycological Society, Botanical Society of America and International Mycological Association. He was elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore and the National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad; Indian Phytopathological Society, Indian Mycological Society, and Society for Developing Asiatic Tropical Mycology.

Kolar Ramakrishnaiya Krishnaswami received his DSc from the University of London, UK, in 1930. His major work involved chemical analysis and laboratory-scale industrial operations concerning the utilization of various raw materials. He did several investigations on the recovery of precious metals from ores. He was a member of the Chemical Advisory Committee, Atomic Energy Commission, and Ores and Raw Materials Committee, BIS. He was a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore and the Royal Institute of Chemistry of Great Britain and Ireland.
