Nedumangattu Kesava Panikkar
Nedumangattu Kesava Panikkar received his DSc from the University of Madras in 1938. His Specialization was in Crustacean physiology, marine fisheries, and oceanography. Under his leadership, India made significant contributions to studying the Indian Ocean. He was instrumental in establishing the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, and Central Institute of Fisheries Technology. Dr. Panikkar was the recipient of The Galatheca Medal of Denmark in 1953; the Padma Shri in 1973; Sir Dorabaji Tata Medal in 1961. He was elected Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore; National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad.

Navalpakkam Parthasarathy
Navalpakkam Parthasarathy obtained his Ph.D. from the University of London, the UK, in 1938. He made significant contributions to the cytology and genetics of sugarcane and rice. His primary research achievement was related to the induction of mutations in X-irradiation. Dr. Parthasarathy was conferred with the Padma Shri Award in 1958. He was elected Fellow of the Tamil Nadu Academy of Sciences; Indian Society of Genetics and Plant breeding; Indian Science Congress.
