Tangirala Ramasarma
Tangirala Ramasarma received his PhD from Mumbai University in 1956. His research topics were Mitochondria and cholesterol biogenesis. He worked on environmental stress and biochemical adaptation, focusing on enzyme regulation and mitochondrial function. He was an elected Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy in 1989.

Rajat De
Rajat De obtained his PhD from the Banaras Hindu University in 1952. His area of research was rainfed agronomy, especially in situ moisture conservation by using soil mulches and foliar application of transpiration suppressants, which acted as heat reflectant or stomata regulator and increased water use efficiency. He introduced the concept of growing four food crops in a year resorting to relay cropping on the same piece of land. He was the Gold medalist of the Indian Society of Agronomy. He received the CIMMYT award from International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre, Mexico, for his contribution to wheat research. He was the Fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi.
