Legends of Science
Sadhan Basu Sadhan Basu

Sadhan Basu received his DSc from the University of Kolkata in 1948. He specialized in quantum chemistry and photochemistry. His significant contribution was in the fields of polymer chemistry and free radical polymerization. He also established the role of the highest field molecular orbital in determining the charge transfer frequency and demonstrated the existence of the vibrational structure in charge transfer bands in solutions. He was awarded the S S Bhatnagar Award in 1965. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, London, the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore and the Indian Chemical Society.

In a large clinical trial, treatment with the investigational drug vorasidenib slowed the growth of tumors in some people with low-grade gliomas that had mutations in the IDH1 or IDH2 genes...

Scientists design a nanoparticle that may improve mRNA cancer vaccines

28 June 2023, EurekAlert

Researchers found that mice with melanoma survived twice as long, and twice the number of mice with colorectal cancer survived long-term, following an injection of the Johns Hopkins-made nanoparticles compared with mice that received control treatments...

Proteome of rare liver cancer sheds new light on basic biology

29 June 2023, MedicalXpress

The fibrolamellar cells had vastly elevated levels of glutaminase, an enzyme that generates ammonia from glutamine. This suggests that fibrolamellar not only indirectly inhibits the liver's ability to remove ammonia, but also directly adds ammonia to the body...
