Ishwar Prakash
Ishwar Prakash received his DSc from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, in 1983. His pioneering research was on the ecology of desert vertebrates, environmental analysis, insectivores, chiropterans, and carnivores inhabiting the deserts. He extensively studied rodents and their seed preferences and identified predators like reptiles, birds and mammals. Dr Prakash won the Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Memorial Prize of ICAR in 1975. He was elected Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad and the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi and a Foreign Fellow of the International Theriological Congress and Russian Academy of sciences.

Debendra Mohan Bose
Debendra Mohan Bose obtained his PhD from the University Of Berlin, Germany, in 1919. He was particularly interested in nuclear physics, magnetic properties, and plant physiology. He initiated research in the fields of cosmic rays, artificial radioactivity and neutron physics. He identified a cosmic particle having an average mass close to 200 times the mass of an electron. He was the recipient of the Deshikottamma of Visva Bharti and Meghnad Saha Award in 1965. Dr Bose was the Vice-President of INSA (1953-56,1960-61). He was a member of the Asiatic Society and Indian Physical Society and Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore; National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad and President Indian Science Congress Association.

Scientists develop new device to detect brain tumors using urine
|
02 February 2023, Eurekalert
|
One possible sign that a person has a brain tumor is the presence of tumor-related extracellular vesicles (EVs) in their urine. EVs are nano-sized vesicles involved in a variety of functions, including cell-to-cell communication. Because those found in brain cancer patients have specific types of RNA and membrane proteins, they could be used to detect the presence of cancer and its progression... |

Scientists develop new design principles to improve cancer vaccine structure
|
01 February 2023, ET Healthworld.com
|
Scientists used chemistry and nanotechnology to change the structural location of adjuvants and antigens on and within a nanoscale vaccine, greatly increasing vaccine performance. The antigen targets the immune system, and the adjuvant is a stimulator that increases the effectivesness of the antigen...
