Trupti Togar

I did my Masters in Biotechnology from IIT Roorkee. I joined Dr.Amit Dutt’s lab as a graduate student in 2014. Being in a cancer genomics lab, I got an opportunity to learn the bioinformatics analysis of high throughput data and validate the findings by functional work.

My research interest is to understand the genomic landscape of cervical cancer using next generation sequencing based approach. I’m working on cervical adenocarcinoma, a rarer subtype of cervical cancer. We have done whole exome sequencing to identify actionable oncogenic drivers. Taking leads from the bioinformatics data, I’m trying to understand the relevance of co-occurrence of PIK3CA and ARID1A in cervical cancer.

Another project I’m currently working on is to identify relevant actionable kinases in Indian derived HNSCC cancer cell lines by using of pooled shRNA kinase screen. Our lab has extensively characterized the genome of Indian derived HNSCC cell lines using exome, Transcriptome and SNP array and we have identified several relevant kinases. Using pooled shRNA screen, we want to functionally validate our findings obtained from bio-informatics analysis.
