RESEARCH

The focus of our group is to unravel the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in the developmental signaling such as Wnt/Notch/Sonic hedgehog etc., and metabolic pathways that regulate the self-renewal and differentiation of adult stem cells and cancer stem-like cells including its therapy resistance to epithelial cancer. We are using transgenic animal skin epithelia model, head and neck cancer, and also have developed patient-derived oral cancer cell lines, to identify the genes involved in signaling pathway and metabolic switch that imparts resistance to cancer stem cells thereby providing avenues for therapeutic intervention.
