Fellowship in Bone Marrow Transplant Nursing: Blood and Bone Marrow transplant nursing was initiated from the year 2016. The objectives of this program is to acquire knowledge and develop skill in caring for patients undergoing Hematopoietic stem cell transplant including identification and management of complications. Academic term is for one year from January to December with an intake of two candidates with stipend Rs. 32,000/-.
A. CVAD (Central Vascular Access Device): Activities performed by department are:
- Pre procedure counselling to patients.
- PICC insertion
- Flushing and dressing of the catheter
- Manage complications like PICC blockage, fracture, etc
- Training staffs and maintaining competencies
- Teaching PICC care to patients and performing demonstration and re-demonstration for patients and relatives.
B. Enterostomal Nursing: Activities performed by department are:
- Pre and post-operative counselling to patients.
- Marking of stoma
- Teaching patients about stoma care and performing demonstration & re demonstration of various stoma related procedures.
- Follow up of complications related to stoma.
- Conduct an Ostomy meet once in a year.
